Sports Market Monday (3/9/09)

Published by geekstarist at 4:01 pm under sports Edit This

Sports Market Monday is stacked today with a lot of sports stories that were overflowing in my email inbox. From MLB news to MMA, there was a lot of large events that took place over the weekend and not to mention a review of last weeks Sports Market.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson- There were plenty of questions about “Rampage” after he lossed the UFC Light-Heavyweight Championship. “Rampage” has answered those questions with consecutive victories over Wanderlei Silva and Keith Jardine setting up a match for the title with “Sugar” Rashad Evans.

“Rampage” is up and Jardine was impressive as well.

Shane Carwin- Now that Carwin has lived up to the hype as an undefeated Heavyweight Fighter in the UFC after defeating Gabriel Gonzaga by knock-out the question is who will he fight next? His win was very impressive and he should be the Number One contender for a title shot.

Like “Rampage”, Carwin is up and soaring.

Alex Rodriguez- 2009 is off to a bad start for A-Rod, first it was his admition of using steroids and now a torn labrum in his hip. A-Rod has opted for surgery which will keep him out of the New York Yankees line-up for 6 to 9 weeks depending on how quickly he recovers.

A-Rod is down, and needs to recover quickly in hope to re-establish his image.

Trent Edwards- Wow, one minute you are the starting QB for one of the NFL’s smallest market teams, Buffalo Bills, and the next you are set to throw passes to the “QB Killer” Terrell Owens. Like Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb, and Jeff Garcia before you, we all wish you luck for the 2009 season.

Trent, I am sorry to say this but you are down.

Last Week: The Arizona Cardinals were down, but are back up after re-signing QB Kurt Warner; Mike Brown and the WEC are still up; Los Angeles Dodgers and Manny Ramirez are back up after being down and confusing last week; and Toronto Raptors PF/C Chris Bosh is still down after his verbal spat with Shaquille O’Neal.
