Henderson is In; Dungy is Out
Tony Dungy is known to be one of the greatest men to ever coach a NFL team because he is simply not going to scream and make a scene. Dungy has always been calm on the sidelines for all of his 13 years as a Head Coach with the Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
After becoming the first African-American to ever win a Super Bowl, many wondered how much time Dungy would spend as a Head Coach. Dungy has long desired to pursue spreading the message of his faith, as he is a devout christian, so the move to retire is not a surprise.
That is right, One of the most respected and successful Head Coaches in NFL History will reportedly retire his headset today. This is a huge loss for the Colts, but I am sure plenty of people know that this is the right time for Tony Dungy and everyone wishes him luck!
A man that refers to himself in the third person is usually going to have to back up all of his talk on a daily basis. Rickey Henderson is that man, and today he can say he is a member of Major League Baseball’s legends as he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Henderson could have easily been a Hall of Famer on his lead-off hitter credentials alone, if not his stealing abilities made him a force as well. Rickey played in MLB for 9 different teams and won a World Series Championship with two different teams.
Although Henderson played for 9 teams, we all remember him as a member of the Oakland Athletics where he once proclaimed himself “The Greatest Player of All Time!” Henderson will likely have one of the most colorful speeches for his induction, and I personally look forward to that day. Congratulations Rickey.
