K-Loss

Published by geekstarist at 7:51 pm under sports Edit This

The Los Angeles Angels were the best team in Major League Baseball this season with a record of 100 wins and 62 losses in 2008. The Angels also had Francisco “K-Rod” Rodriguez’ record breaking 62 saves this season, and not to mention one of the best rosters in MLB.

As any MLB fan knows, ask the Seattle Mariners, having the most wins in a season means absolutely nothing in the Playoffs. Even more important is the Relief Pitching and the Closer role as most Post-Season games are even match-ups of the Best teams.

Rodriguez has earned the title of the best Closing Pitcher in MLB with his dominant performances in almost every appearance he makes. “K-Rod” can be a little over excited at the end of closing a game, but if that annoys an opposing hitter the answer is simple: Stop him.

All was well earlier this week for the Angels, They were the best team in MLB and hosting the defending World Series Champion Boston Red Sox in Anaheim. This year in head to head match-ups the Angels utterly dominated the Red Sox, so naturally they expected the same result in this series.

The Angels were wrong and lost the first game of the series, plus they could not seem to get a hit when they needed it most. Although down, the Angels still held onto hope as they knew it was just one loss and the team would come out strong in game 2.

Game 2 started really bad for the Angels as the Red Sox started with 4-0 lead punishing P Ervin Santana in the process. The Angels eventually came back to tie the game in the eighth inning and the mometum seemed to point to a win for the Angels.

The Angels did not want the game to get away from them in the ninth inning so they sent out “K-Rod” to retire the three batters. With a man on base, J.D. Drew came to bat for the Red Sox and hit the game winning homerun of “K-Rod” and led the Red Sox to a 2 games to nothing lead in their series.

“K-Rod” blew it in the most important game of this season, and to make things a little worse, it was a home playoff game. Already down 2 games in the series and headed to Boston, it is safe to say record wise, the Angels are the best team this season, but they will not be Champions and that is the most important stat of the year.
