The Eerie and Dreaded Friday, The 15th
Well, it gets worse for the Tampa Bay Rays, on this Friday August the 15th. The Rays have added to their already crowded Disabled List; featuring Carl Crawford, Evan Longoria, and now Tampa Bays Closing Pitcher Troy Percival.
Crawford and Longoria were tough loses for the young Rays, but without the leadership veteran Percival brought to the team, it seems the Rays have been set up for failure. The Rays are still holding onto their 3 game lead in the AL East, but without Percival, the grip becomes a little tougher to hold on to.
The Los Angeles Galaxy front-office shake up continues this week as it appears interim Head Coach Cobi Jones will be replaced by Bruce Arenas. Arenas, mostly remembered as the long time coach of USA Soccer, will take over the struggling Galaxy.
David Beckham must really be wondering if he made the right move coming to the MLS, and further more the Galaxy. Then he must get his check and remember that win, lose, or draw, he is still seeing extra zero’s on his check.
Sportsblogger would like to take this opportunity to say good-bye to 1B Richie Sexson, formerly of the New York Yankees. It seems like only yesterday you were slugging baseballs right out of the ball-park, now the only thing leaving it is you and a box of your cleared out locker items.
Finally, the next shoe to drop from the “Euro Exodus”, Jannero Pargo formerly of the New Orleans Hornets. He signed a 1 year contract with Dynamo Moscow of the Russian League.
The 6 year NBA veteran will join Josh Childress as one of the biggest names to leave for European Basketball. Earl Boykins is also setting sail for Euro hoops as well.
