Kwame Brown To The Pistons
Well, if the Grizzlies, Lakers, and Wizards have not proved anything to any teams about Kwame Brown, the Pistons will be the next example. Always the under-achiever, Brown was the Number 1 pick overall in the 2001 draft and has never been the dominant center that he was believed to be.
Another tie that he will always have is that when Michael Jordan was incharge of the Washington Wizards he chose him with that draft pick. If you look at his size both on paper and in plain sight, you can see that Brown should have the same presence as Shaquille O’Neal.
At 6-11 and 270 pounds, he averages a disappointing 7.5 ppg, 5.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks through out his career. His problem is his focus on the task at hand and the small size of his hands when it comes to rebounding and scoring.
One definate plus is his size and strength for defensive purposes. The Pistons love a defensive minded player, but will struggle with the lack of offense and rebounding that Brown has been plagued by since his first season in the NBA.
Browns most significant moment, besides being clobbered by boo’s from Laker Fans at home games, is that he was the centerpiece in the trade that brought Pau Gasol to the Lakers. Kwame Brown will be the biggest enigma in sports as long as he remains in the league.
Just what did he say or do to make Michael Jordan take him with the first pick in the draft? Maybe he jumped over a car like Kobe Bryant in the commercial for his shoes.
Now to rip the Pistons a little bit, They are going to pay Brown $4 million for one season with an option for the same pay next season. What are they thinking? This is a guy who just can not play.
He couldn’t handle the Laker fans criticism, when he fumbles the ball out of bounds or misses an easy dunk, do you think the Piston fans are gonna clap and say “its ok Kwame, you get em’ next time!” No way, and he will not play more than 10 minutes a game.
Look everyone wants to be the coach who figures out Kwame Brown, but if Phil Jackson couldn’t help him, do you think Michael Curry will be able too?
