Dodgers Get Their Man-ny and Other News..

Published by geekstarist at 6:52 pm under sports Edit This

The trade for Manny Ramirez is already a major hit with Los Angeles Dodger Fans and the whole Dodger organization. He has proven to not only be the big bat the line-up has needed, but also the star power to captivate the fans and garner interest in the Dodgers.

Sure the Angels are the best team in baseball, and yes they have won a Championship in the last 19 years, but Los Angeles is and always will be a Dodger Blue City. Ramirez hit his first career homerun as a Dodger last night and just hit another just now at 3 p.m. and the crowd is ecstatic at the sight of its new star.

Manny can be Manny all he wants in Los Angeles as the fans here love a showman and star power. It also helps that he has brought some Slugging power and he is producing runs for a former Power-challenged offense.

Manny is the best thing that happened to the Dodgers since the Kirk Gibson homerun on the Athletics in the 1988 World Series. Really it has been that long since the Dodgers and their loyal fans have had something to be excited about.

In other events in Los Angeles, the 14th installment of the X-Games have been exciting for viewers of all ages. The eye-catching event has been the Skateboard Big Air competition, which received a ton of publicity last year when Jake Brown lost his board in mid air causing him to fall 20 feet to the ground.

Brown was ok and returned to the competition this year and grabbed a Bronze Medal, the Gold went to Bob Burnquist but was highlighted by another fall when Danny Way’s Skateboard hit the top of the ramp, throwing him into a front flip and finally hitting the floor. Way was ok and won the Silver Medal.

In the popular Skateboard Vert Final, Olympic Gold Medalist Snowboarder Shaun White tried out his skate skills and came home with a Bronze Medal. Bucky Lasek grabbed the Silver and Pierre-Luc Gagnon took home the Gold. In Skateboard Street, Ryan Sheckler won the Gold, Paul Rodriguez got the Silver, and Greg Lutzka got the Bronze.
