July 4th

Published by geekstarist at 4:15 pm under sports Edit This

The 4th of July is a celebration of our nations independence. Most celebrate with large barbeque, lots of friends, and fireworks. Sure thats fun and all, but unlike Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Easter; The 4th of July lacks a real sports tradition.

There is no football or basketball, but baseball is hitting its mid-point of the season and surely MLB can put together a successful line-up of rivalry games for July 4th. Instead all sports fans get is Yankees and Red Sox.

That series is fun to watch, but is getting old and tiresome. It would be great to see 3 games televised nationally today, or even 2. Give us something baseball, prove that your regular season is not too long and that every game is important.

Maybe put the Red Sox and Yankees game on as a night game and start off with a great game before like the Phillies and Mets, or Cardinals and Cubs, or Dodgers and Diamondbacks. Games that have some significance. Help the fans gain a greater knowledge of who baseballs real superstars are.

A few good games could go a long way, if people are not tired of seeing the Dallas Cowboys every Thanksgiving, a few baseball games would go a long way. So start your own tradition MLB, the holiday of 4th of July is all yours, you have no competition for this date. Make the most of it.
